Raised since childhood in a Shaolin temple, Tianbiao and Jianbao are two inseparable friends. One day, they are expelled for violating Buddhist precepts and the rigorous rules of martial arts practice during a fight. Forced to beg to survive, the two monks set out to discover the world but soon take very different paths. While Junbao befriends a group of outcasts rebelling against the government, Tianbao enlists in the regular army. As time passes, a confrontation between the two friends becomes inevitable.
